2018 Summer Programs & Events

Held at the museum on the third Wednesday of June, July and August starting at 7:00 p.m. Tours of the museum start at 6:15 p.m.

June 9, 2018 :    Open House - Celebrating a New Season
6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 9th.  New exhibits hilighting World Wars I and II and Korea, including a "real-life" canteen.
Refreshments, Guided Tours, Music.  Come enjoy the fun and learn what plans are for the 2018 season at the museum.

June 21, 2017: "Honoring Our Vietnam Veterans"

Reception at time TBD

An evening of appreciation of and pride in our local veterans who served in the Vietnam War. You will hear the experiences of some of our men in the area who endured a costly and unpopular war. There will be music of the time and a panel of veterans from the American Legion who will be a big part of this program. There will be exhibits and other memorabilia. Come and show your patriotism at this important event. Bring your children or grandchildren so they can learn from those who experienced it.

July 19, 2017: "Life in a One-Red Light Town"

A continuation of last year's "roundtable" of past life in our lovely town. This program will focus on businesses and activities of the past in Cambridge. Do you remember Glen Eagle Country Club, predicted log races on the Battenkill, fun at the lakes, the local soda fountain? Come share your memories of these places and others. If you did not experience these places, this is a good time to learn about how people lived in years gone by. Bring yours memories, pictures, mementos, etc.

August 16, 2017: "And the Music Plays On"

A look at how music has influenced life in and around Cambridge. Learn the history of "Professor" Charles W. Townsend, popular bands who played at the lakes and around the area, the Fireman's Band, high school bands and other bands, Hubbard Hall's contributions through the years and some young people who today are making music a big part of their lives and future, plus much more. Bring pictures and memories of when you were in the band or chorus or when you took music lessons. There may even be a sing-along.

September 8, 2018:    Opening of New Carriage House Exhibits
1-3 p.m.  Come see the many new exhibits set up permanently in the carriage house.  You will be amazed at the transformation and learn new things about the Cambridge area.

December 8, 2018:   Christmas Open House
6-8 p.m.   The house will be decorated for an 1869 Christmas.  Lots of food, music and museum tours.  Drawing for the yearly raffle.
